"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

*Very mild road rage. I tend not to use my horn unless there's actually some cause ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but still). However, my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with other drivers is running the red light on a protected left. It seems like there's a sense of entitlement, like "I was in line waiting therefor I get to go." Whatever the case may be, I ran out of patience. Now get off my damn lawn.

While the oncoming cars should of cleared the junction (almost certainly the last couple at least must of 'jumped' the lights, it is for you to check the junction is clear to proceed and not to 'green light, I'm going and honk at cars' that are still clearing the junction. Because if they had stopped, you would of also had to of stopped and either waited for them to clear or check it was safe to manoeuvre round them of which time your vehicle is also obstructing the junction.

I know. I drive fairly calmly for the most part, "road rage" included.

Correct, although in this case they had four lanes of completely open road and no reason to stop.

That's a big-ass signal gantry. I'd be pissed if that came down unexpectedly.

Oh yeah, it's good stuff when I drag race the box truck and the oh shit face the oncoming left turners have is great.
Bigger vehicle = right of way.

Incorrect, they should have stopped back at the red light and you could have proceeded safely. Let's have no red light runner apologists.

Not the WTF face!? I use my horn all the time. I am hoping to educate drivers on their errors, or at least get them wondering "Why is that guy so mad?" so they MIGHT try to figure it out.

True, there was no reason for them to stop, but there was no reason for them to jump the light and still be in the junction when you had a green light, nor was there any reason for you to pull off into the junction (other than the green light) when there was still vehicles in the junction obstructing your path.
Green light doesn't mean 'go', it means 'proceed if and when safe to do so'.

I hate when people to this, BUT to play devil's advocate (not saying it excuses running the red, because it doesn't), I counted roughly 7 seconds from the time the cars started turning until your signal turned green. Assuming a 1-2 second all-red clearance interval, that's like, what, a 5 second green arrow? It seems the light is not timed correctly to allow adequate throughput for all the vehicles waiting to turn left. I'd be pissed too, and tempted to just run it, especially if I've already sat through an entire cycle waiting to turn.

I did notice that, the light seemed unusually short. Perhaps the lead cars sat a bit?

Yes, as everyone knows, horns were put in cars in order to educate other drivers on traffic laws.

That's not a little known fact. That's a widely known fact that keeps people from moving to NJ. That, and all the carcinogens in the air and water.

What's a horn for then? If I'm avoiding another vehicle, I rarely have time to go for the horn. The only time it's useful is if I'm sliding towards somebody else who is stopped and I have time to lay on the horn to get their attention.. The horn is an "after the fact" item.
When somebody creates a hazard by not following the rules of the road, they should expect to be told. That goes for everything from leaving a foot of snow on your roof and using the highway as your snowbrush (dickhead) to holding up traffic while making a left turn where there are many large "NO LEFT TURN" signs and big crossed out left turn arrows (dickhead) to cutting across 4 lanes of highway to make an exit (dickhead)... I guess I'm the dickhead then, huh.
